Cutting Edge Technology
Picking up a submarine is not exactly like picking up a new car - especially when it no longer has any batteries. The added weight of the batteries would have made it difficult to bring Ojibwa into the shallow harbour in Port Burwell. A method had to be invented - a submersible floating dry dock. The dry dock was towed to Halifax in May 2012 where it was submersed and HMCS Ojibwa towed into place. Then, the dry dock was re-floated and Ojibwa secured for her long journey. It worked like a charm.
